PGA Tour: Coughlin/Novak win Grant Thornton Invitational

Lauren Coughlin and Andrew Novak combined for a 9-under 63 in the final round to win the Grant Thornton Invitational by three shots from a trio of pairs.

The 54-hole event features different formats each day: A Scramble on day one, Foursomes on day 2 before Modified Better-ball on day 3.

Coughlin and Novak were two shots adrift of the first-round lead despite a 15-under round of 57 but moved into a one-shot lead lead with a 4-under 68 in Foursomes.

The last round saw 18 holes of Modified Better-ball where both players hit their tee-shots, swapped balls before playing the remainder of the hole with their partner’s ball.

The pair collected three front-9 birdies before a clinical finish on the inward-half which featured six birdies highlighted by three in a row from the 13th.

One final birdie at the par-4 18th capped off a round in which they saw off the challenge of Jennifer Kupcho/Chris Gotterup, Nelly Korda/Denny McCarthy and Charley Hull/Michael Brennan.

DP World Tour: Schaper wins Dunhill Championship with playoff Eagle

Jayden Schaper produced a spectacular eagle on the first playoff hole to defeat Shaun Norris and earn a maiden DP World Tour title at the Alfred Dunhill Championship.

The event was moved from its traditional site at Leopard Creek to Royal Johannesburg for the 2025 edition. Inclement weather marred the early part of the event and a Saturday which was washed out meant that the event was reduced to 54 holes.

Shaun Norris charged up the leaderboard and into the eventual playoff with a superb 8-under 62 highlighted by four birdies on the bounce from the 13th.

Schaper meanwhile birdied two of the final three holes for a 67 which helped him match Norris’ 16-under mark.

Schaper hit a stunning hybrid from a fairway bunker in the playoff which ran to the back of the green. After Norris was unable to convert his own Eagle chance, Schaper made no mistake and put the seal on a maiden DP World Tour title.

  1. At 28-under par, Lauren Coughlin and Andrew Novak set a new scoring-record at the Grant Thornton Invitational.
  2. Per the PGA Tour, Scottie Scheffler finished T-8 or better in his final 15 events of the PGA Tour season – the longest streak since Byron Nelson earned 27 straight Top-8 finishes in 1945.
  3. Five PGA Tour cards were awarded at PGA Tour Q-School. The recipients were: A.J. Ewart, Adam Svensson, Alejandro Tosti, Marcelo Rozo and Dylan Wu.
