PGA Tour: Hovland accelerates to BMW Championship win

Viktor Hovland pulled off an impressive come-from-behind victory as he carded a nine-under par 61 to win the BMW Championship by two shots over 54-hole leaders Matt Fitzpatrick and Scottie Scheffler. Trailing by three shots overnight, the Norwegian was firing on all cylinders on Sunday as he notched 10 birdies and just one drop shot en-route to his 5th PGA Tour title.

LPGA: Pano wins ISPS Handa World Invitational in playoff

LPGA Tour rookie Alexa Pano won the ISPS Handa World Invitational at Galgorm Castle after defeating Esther Henseleit and Gabriella Cowley in a sudden-death playoff. A Sunday 66 saw Pano end regulation in a tie with Henseleit (69) and Cowley (70) tied on 8-under par. After Pano and Cowley halved the first two extra holes in birdies and pars respectively, Pano delivered the knockout blow at the third time of asking courtesy of a two-putt birdie.

DP World Tour: Brown bolts to maiden DP World Tour title

DP World Tour rookie Daniel Brown emulated Pano in recording a maiden Tour title in his rookie season at the ISPS Handa World Invitational after completing a resounding 5-stroke wire-to-wire victory over Alex Fitzpatrick at Galgorm Castle. The players played a round each at the par-70 Galgorm Castle and Par-71 Castlerock respectively. Rounds of 64-66-67 earned the Englishman a sizeable six-shot 54-hole lead before a final round one-under 69 put the seal on a dominant display.

Sunshine Tour: Mitchell wins Sunbet – Times Square Challenge

Malcolm Mitchell charged home in 31 on the back-nine at Wingate Park CC to earn a remarkable four-shot win in the Sunbet Challenge – Time Square event for his maiden Sunshine Tour title. Van Zyl (75) and many other players who were in the hunt with 18 to play capitulated in the final round. Mitchell meanwhile, who began the final round two strokes adrift, capitalised on his great play and their misfortune to seal the win.

Challenge Tour: History-making Ruuska wins Finnish Challenge

Finland’s Lauri Ruuska enjoyed a historic week at his home event as he romped to a commanding 7-stroke win over Joakim Wikstrom and Jack Mcdonakd in the Finnish Challenge.

Only the second Finn to ever win the event, Ruuska seized the event by the scruff of the neck after carding golf’s magical number, a 12-under par 59 in round one. Though he cooled off in round-2 with a 70, weekend rounds of 64 put the seal on a week to remember for the 29-year-old.

Korn Ferry Tour: Kim wins Magnit Championship

Chan Kim shot a final-round 8-under par to win the Korn Ferry Tou’r’s Magnit Championship by three shots. Kim’s great play in the final round came in threes and fours: He birdied the 4th, 5th and 6th before an eagle-3 at the 12th preceded three successive birdies from the 13th. A closing birdie put a bow on a superb final round display which ended in victory and moved Kim to 15th on the Korn Ferry Tour’s Points List.

PGA Tour Champions: Duke wins Shaw Charity Classic

Ken Duke birdied his final hole on Sunday to win his first title on the PGA Tour Champions at the Shaw Charity Classic by one-shot over Thongchai Jaidee and Tim Petrovic. Trailing Petrovic by two overnight, Duke mixed six birdies with two bogeys on Sunday, a formula which yielded his first title since the 2013 Travelers Championship.

  1. Malcolm Mitchell had promised to give his caddie one of his watches when they won their first title together. He had a funny feeling before the final round commenced that something special may happen so he took it with him to the course.
  2. Alexa Pano’s victory came on her 19th birthday.
  3. Pano had missed six of her prior 11 cuts on the season before winning the ISPS Handa World Invitational.
  4. Ken Duke sealed his lone win on the PGA Tour with a playoff-birdie and his first PGA Tour Champions’ win with a birdie on the final hole in regulation. On both occasions he had 105 yards left for his approach shot.
  5. Lauri Ruuska shot the fourth 59 in Challenge Tour history.
