GolfRSA U/19 IPT: WP pip North-West to title

Western Province pipped North-West to the SA U/19 Interprovincial title by two game-points at Polokwane Golf Club after a 10.5-1.5 demolition of Southern Cape on the final day.

Ironically, WP’s only defeat of the week came at the hands of the eventual runners-up as they lost 5-7. Sizeable wins over Central Gauteng (8-4) and Ekhuruleni (9-3) helped right the ship while they pipped Boland 6.5-5.5.

Province’s biggest win of the week came against Southern Cape, while a 5.5-6.5 loss to the same opposition ultimately hurt North West’s chances.

PGA Tour: Team Kuchar win PNC Championship

Matt and Cameron Kuchar romped to a 7-stroke triumph in the PNC Championship after rounds of 15-under 57 and 18-under 54.

An opening round which saw them birdie all but three holes in the scramble format helped open up a two-shot lead over Team Daly. 

There were two pars on the card in the final round but there were two eagle-3s as well, including at the final hole where Matt took full advantage of a long drive by his son, hitting a 7-iron to 18 inches. 

In addition to the eagles, the pair had 14 birdies on a day which saw them beat Team Love and Team Daly by a handy margin. 

DP World Tour: Eagle does it again for Schaper

For the second week in a row, Jayden Schaper delivered a playoff eagle to secure a DP World Tour title – defeating Ryan Gerard with a clutch chip in in to win the Afrasia Bank Mauritius Open.

Schaper played sublime golf over the weekend to play his way into sudden-death as he shot consecutive rounds of 8-under 64 punctuated by three birdies over his final four holes on Sunday. 

Gerard meanwhile closed with a 6-under 66 which was capped off with a birdie-4 at 18 to match Schaper’s 22-under mark.

They traded pars on the first playoff hole. On their second trip down the par-5 18th in the playoff, Gerard’s 3rd shot found the greenside bunker. 

Schaper on the other hand judged his 3rd to perfection as his ball found the bottom of the cup.

  1. Ryan Gerard travelled 10 000 miles and 27 hours to play in the Mauritius Open, needing a top-4 finish to move into the top-50 of the World Rankings and earn a Masters Invite, his 2nd-place finish moved him to 46th on the rankings.
  2. Jayden Schaper finished top of the DP World Tour’ Opening Swing rankings for the 2026 season, earning a $200 000 bonus as a result.
  3. Jayden Schaper’s last three tournaments have seen him go 2nd-1st-1st and rise from 153rd on the World Rankings to 63rd.
