PGA Tour: Valimaki wins RSM Classic

Sami Valimaki earned a maiden PGA Tour title as he won the RSM Classic by a shot after a closing 4-under 66.

The Finn held a two-shot lead through 54 holes and made a solid start to the final round as he turned in 2-under 33. A charging Max McGreevy though ensured the event was far from a foregone conclusion as he signed for a 7-under 63 which included a birdie at the 18th to set a 22-under par clubhouse lead.

Valimaki remained steady, picking up birdies at the 10th and 15th before parring his final three holes to hold on for the victory. 

LPGA Tour: Thitikul wins Tour Championship, Race To CME Globeย

Jeeno Thitikul swept all before her as she won the CME Group Tour Championship by four shots, winning the season-long Race To CME Globe in the process.

The World no.1 Thai player was in imperious form throughout the week, opening up a six-shot 54-hole lead through rounds of 5-under 67, 9-under 63 and 8-under 64.

Her nearest challenger Pajaree Annannarukarn may have closed with a 6-under 66 but that was of litle consequence given Thitikul’s steady display in the final round. Mixing five birdies with a single dropped shot, the Thitikul posted a 4-under 68, cruising to a comfortable victory.

Sunshine Tour: Jarvis wins astonishing Origins of Golf Finalย ย

Casey Jarvis eagled the third hole of sudden-death to defeat Barend Botha and win the Vodacom Origins of Golf Final.

The pair ended regulation tied on 24-under after a dramatic finish to regulation play. Both players eagled the par-4 17th before making birdies on the par-5 18th.

Their astonishing run continued in the playoff as they traded birdies at the par-5 18th twice before Jarvis made eagle to Botha’s birdie the third time around.

It marks Jarvis’ second victory in as many starts after his win at the Hyundai Open two weeks ago.
