Western Province SAGDB made a solid start to their Nomads SAGDB Challenge IPT campaign, collecting 155 Stableford points in round one before amassing 165 points in round 2 on a long and challenging Monday at Royal Durban Golf Club.
The best 5 of the 6 Stableford scores recorded determine the team’s tallies at the end of the 54-hole event. King David Mowbray’s Jaydon Galant accounted for the best score among the WP contingent in the morning as he signed for a 73 which yielded 35 points.
He was ably assisted by Jude Samuels of Royal Cape (74/33) and skipper Conrick Lucas (76/32) who put in solid morning shifts too. Kuilsriver Golf Club’s Codi Ruiters (77/31) and Cole Williams (85/23) also had a hand in a 155-point morning tally which placed WP in a share of 4th heading into round 2.
Lucas went three points better in his second round, carding a one-over 73 which netted a useful 35 point-haul. Galant matched his skipper’s afternoon haul after a second successive 73.
Williams meanwhile showed terrific character to improve by 10 points and deliver 33 points for his side courtesy of a three-over 75.Â
Ruiters played another solid round, improving upon his first round with a 76 which earned him 32 points.
Luke-Daniel Pillay bounced back well from a morning of 22-points with a handy 30-point contribution through a 78 which ensures WP will begin the third and final round on 320 total points in 4th-place on the A-Division Log.
Central Gauteng lead the way on 344 points, 16 clear of second-place Boland.
