Rondebosch Open: Wiese beats the weather to win by 4
|

|
Joshua Wiese overcame trying conditions in the Rondebosch Open to card rounds of 6-under 66 and 2-under 70 to win by four shots from Cole Cruickshank and Pietie Loubser at Rondebosch Golf Club.
|
Wiese played remarkable golf in the morning as intermittent rain fell. Birdies at the 3rd, 5th and 9th preceded three in a row from the 13th in what was a bogey-free display that opened up a two-stroke advantage over Evan Marais.
|
Smooth as his morning round had been, Wiese didn't have it all his own way in the afternoon. Beginning on the 4th, birdies at the 8th and 9th were erased by dropped shots at the 11th and 14th holes and brought the field back within striking distance.
|
The Atlantic Beach player regrouped, however to collect birdies at the 16th, 18th and 1st holes to pull away once again.
|
He may have bogeyed the par-5 3rd, his closing hole, but he ended the day with plenty of distance between himself and both Cruickshank (72-68) and Loubser (70-70).
|

Marais meanwhile battled to a second round 79 to finish in a share of 14th on 3-over par.

PGA Tour: Cauley secures maiden title at Canadian Open
|

|
Bud Cauley captured an emotional first win on the PGA Tour, prevailing by two shots over Matt Fitzpatrick in the Canadian Open at TPC Toronto after a closing round of 5-under 65.
|
In 2018, the American was involved in a car accident while playing in The Memorial which left him with six broken ribs, a collapsed right lung and a fractured left leg and only returned to the Tour a little more than two years ago.
|
Cauley though was far from an accidental winner. His final round featuring seven birdies, including four in five holes from the 11th, a run highlighted by a chip-in from 93-feet at the 12th.
|
Cauley's stellar Sunday ensured he leapfrogged Jackson Suber whom he trailed by a shot entering the last round. Having shot rounds of 66 either side of a Friday 65, Suber held the 54-hole lead into Toronto.
|
His bid for a maiden title ground to a halt though on a Sunday featuring four birdies and as many drops which relegated him to a share of 4th.

Fitzpatrick eagled 18 in a round of 64 which moved him into 2nd-place on the leaderboard and into top spot on the FedExCup

LPGA Tour: Kim, Wilson victorious in Dow Championship

Gina Kim and Yana Wilson shot a final round better-ball score of 8-under 62 to both win their maiden LPGA Tour titles at the Dow Championship by two from Hye-Chin Choi and Hyo Joo Kim at Midland Country Club.
|
Choi and Kim had led through three rounds. They began the week with a 1-under 69 in round one foursomes before a second round better-ball score of 62. Another Foursomes score of 69 followed.
|
Kim and Wilson meanwhile opened their week with rounds of 68, 63 and 70. They were full value for their 62 on Sunday. An eagle-2 from both players at the par-4 5th highlighted a round which featured six birdies, the last of which came at the par-4 17th
|

Choi and Kim were three shots worse than they'd been in round two better-ball and although they birdied the 18th, they ultimately came up short.

Sunshine Tour: Krog clinches maiden title in Zambia

Stuart Krog closed the Zambia Open with a 6-under 66 and benefitted from a final round stumble by Jason Roets as the Zimbabwean claimed a maiden Sunshine Tour title by a shot at Nkana Golf Club.

Roets had led the event since the conclusion of the second round having begun his week with rounds of 1-under 71, 65 and 73.
|
The final round was a struggle, though. A front-nine of 1-over 37 preceded three straight bogeys from the 14th.
|
This opened the door for Krog who turned in 4-under before birdies at the 12th and 13th complemented seven pars on the inward-half.
|

Roets was unable to produce the birdie down the stretch that would've extended proceedings as Krog improved significantly upon his previous best finish of tied 7th in this particular event.

Korn Ferry Tour: Fischer wins OccuNet Classic

Zack Fischer won the first Korn Ferry Tour title of his career, capturing the OccuNet Classic by a shot after a closing 1-under 69 at Tascosa Golf Club.
|
A third round of 8-under 62 propelled the American to a four-shot 54-hole advantage. The final round wasn't without its drama, though.
|
After birdies at the 2nd and 11th holes, Fischer's second shot at the par-4 14th went out of bounds and led to a double-bogey.
|
|
The American bounced back with a birdie at the par-3 16th to ensure he held off Ben Carr (who closed with an eagle at 17 and birdie at 18), by a shot.

HotelPlanner Tour: Mruzek beats Albertse to Interwetten Open title

Filip Mruzek converted a share of the 54-hole lead into victory by a shot over Louis Albertse in the Interwetten Open after a closing round 4-under 65 at Schladming-Dachstein Golf Club.
|
Mruzek shared the lead with Julian Perico on 14-under par through three rounds. In the final round, Mruzek bounced back from a bogey at the 1st with a birdie-3 at the 2nd.
|
Six pars followed before the Czech player collected four birdies in five holes from the 9th.
|
Perico by comparison was unable to sustain positive momentum, collecting three birdies and two bogeys through his first 13 holes, eventually carding a 68 to finish alone in 5th-place.
|
There were no such issues for Albertse who carded an eagle, five birdies and two bogeys in a round of 64.
|
|
Mruzek parred his final five holes as the 16-year pro captured the maiden title of his career.

PGA Tour Champions: Johnson wins Principal Charity Classic

Zach Johnson won the second title of his PGA Tour Champions career, claiming victory in the Principal Charity Classic by four shots at Wakonda Club.
|
Johnson made a steady start to the week with a 3-under 69 before a second round 63 earned him a share of the lead with Scott Hend and Brett Quigley.
|
Hend (77) saw his challenge collapse in the final round while Quigley shot a level-par round.
|
|
After an opening-hole bogey, Johnson collected seven birdies and dropped just one more shot, his birdie at the 18th punctuating a dominant final round display.
