PGA Tour: Woodland snaps title-drought with emotional Houston win

Days removed from admitting to suffering from PTSD following 2023 brain surgery, Gary Woodland collected a first PGA Tour title since 2019 when he won the Houston Open by five shots from Nicolai Hojgaard after a closing round of 3-under 67.

Woodland made a flying start to the week with rounds of 64, 63 and 65 which collectively helped him take a one-shot lead into the final day.
|
Four birdies in a five-hole stretch from the 5th in the final round saw the former US Open champion take complete control of the event as he turned in 4-under to Hojgaard's 1-over.
|
|
Woodland may not have made a birdie on the way in, making a bogey and eight pars, but Hojgaard's inability to apply any pressure on the second-nine meant that he completed a comfortable victory.

LPGA Tour: Kim holds off Korda for 2nd straight week

|
Hyo-Joo Kim held off Nelly Korda for the second straight week as she won the Ford Championship by two shots.
|
A week on from her win at the Fortinet Cup, Kim held a four-shot lead heading into the final round after carding 11-under 61s in rounds one and three. A misstep in the form of a double-bogey at the 8th brought Korda to within one of her lead. A bogey by Korda at 9 and a two-shot swing in Kim's favour, birdie to bogey at 10, bolstered Kim's buffer.

Korda may have finished eagle-birdie in a round of 5-under 67 but she was ultimately unable to catch Kim who closed with a 3-under 69.

DP World Tour: Fitzpatrick wins maiden title in India

Not even a double bogey on the 72nd hole could take the gloss off what was a memorable maiden DP World Tour title for Alex Fitzpatrick who prevailed by two shots at the Indian Open.
|
Fitzpatrick began what would become a dramatic final day four shots adrift of Eugenio Chacarra. The former righted the ship after two early bogies with six birdies in an 8-hole stretch against just one dropped shot. Two additional red numbers came at the 15th and 17th.
|
The birdie at 17 was in stark contrast to playing partner Chacarra who dropped shots at both 16 and 17.
|
|
Chacarra went on to bogey the 18th too, confirming his runner-up to Fitzpatrick despite the latter's double-bogey.
|

Sunshine Tour: Vorster wins Tour Championship

Martin Vorster carded a final round 6-under 66 to register a maiden Sunshine Tour title with a two-stroke win over Jaco Prinsloo at the Tour Championship.
|
Vorster began his week by setting a new course record at De Zalze Golf Club as he carded a 9-under 63. Despite following it up with rounds of 67 and 71, he found himself three adrift of Prinsloo who carded rounds of 64, 68 and 66.
|
Voster signalled his intent with birdies at the 2nd and 3rd in the final round and although he bogeyed the 4th, he turned in 5-under thanks to birdies at the 6th and 9th which complemented an eagle-3 at 8.
|
After a birdie at the 10th, Vorster parred home to set the clubhouse target at 21-under.
|
|
Prinsloo mixed three birdies with two bogeys on a final day which saw him ultimately come up short.
|

Sunshine Ladies Tour: Van Der Westhuizen completes wire-to-wire win

Nadia Van Der Westhuizen earned a wire-to-wire victory at the ABSA Ladies Invitational, completing a seven-stroke win after closing with a 6-under par 66.
|
Van Der Westhuizen was in imperious form throughout the week, backing up a first round 7-under 65 with a second round of 68.
|
A first hole eagle-3 set the tone for another great round on the final day which featured five birdies and just a single bogey.
|
|
Jordan Rothman finished alone in 2nd-place after closing with a round of 69.

Korn Ferry Tour: Lamb wins Club Car Championship

Davis Lamb won his first Korn Ferry Tour title as he captured the Club Car Championship by two from John Pak following a 4-under 68 in the final round.
|
Lamb started the round a shot behind Blades Brown who was looking to become the youngest winner in Korn Ferry Tour history. His title bid stalled though with a level-par final round.
|
|
This opened the door for Lamb who produced two birdies on each nine, capped by a birdie-4 at the last.
|

PGA Tour Champions: Cink wins Hoag Classic

Stewart Cink made an albatross to take the 36-hole lead at the Hoag Classic before confirming a four-stroke win with a 5-under 66 in the final round.
|
The former Open champion began his week with a round of 66 and a 62 which featured seven birdies, a bogey and a spectacular albatross at the par-5 18th.
|
His final round was a polished performance as he mixed six birdies with a single dropped shot.
|
|
Ernie Els (67) and Zach Johnson (65) shared 2nd-place on 15-under par.
|
