PGA Tour: Brennan shoots 64, wins Wyndham Championship by three

Michael Brennan enjoyed a front-nine birdie barrage en route to a 6-under 64 and a three-shot victory in the Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club to book a spot in the FedExCup playoffs as result.

Brennan and Beau Hossler had been locked on 16-under entering the final day, the former searching for a second Tour title and the latter his first.
|
The front nine was key to the eventual outcome. Hossler birdied the 3rd and eagled the par-5 5th but dropped at the 9th. Brennan meanwhile got hot with five birdies in a row from the 4th. A shot behind before beginning that run, Brennan found himself three to the good standing on the 10th tee.

It proved an unassailable lead. Hossler played his final nine in one-under thanks to birdies at 16 and 17. Brennan too navigated his second-nine in one-under, vaulting to 47th on the FedExCup in the process and into the postseason.

LIV Golf Tour: Niemann continues LIV dominance with New York title

Joaquin Niemann continued his dominance of LiV Golf by capturing a ninth career title when he won LIV Golf New York by three shots at Trump Bedminster.
|
Having opened with a 7-under 64 and carding a 65 and 70 over the next two days, the Chilean held a two-shot advantage of Harold Varner III.
|
American Varner played steady, if not spectacular, golf on Sunday. Birdies at 6 and 8 were mixed in with a drop at the 12th. His round was stuck in neutral down the stretch with six closing pars.

This afforded Niemann the luxury of steady, if not spectacular golf of his own. Bogeys at 1 and 17 were offset by birdies at the 7th and 13th but it was an eagle-3 at 15 which was vital to seeing him over the line.

Sunshine Tour: Brown surges to Win at Wingate

Luke Brown surged to victory in the Sunbet Challenge - Times Square at Wingate Park Country Club, firing a final round 8-under 64 which produced a two-shot triumph and a second Sunshine Tour title of his career.
|
Brown began the day four shots off the 36-hole pace set by Herman Loubser. Loubser held a commanding three shot lead heading into the day having shot a superb 62 in the second round to complement an opening 67.
|
His challenge though was undone by a lacklustre 73 which relegated him into a share of 5th-place.
|
Instead, the final round largely centred around Brown's stunning scoring. The left-hander made his first birdie of the day at the 4th, notching three more before the turn.
|
Birdies at 10 and 11 set the tone for another fruitful nine. In the end the great separator proved to be an eagle-3 at the 15th which ultimately helped him post a 19-under tournament tally.

It was a tally the chasing pack was unable to match with defending champion Jonathan Broomhead and Ockie Strydom coming closest having closed with matching 66s in a 17-under total.

Korn Ferry Tour: 59 Harris’ magical number

American Frankie Harris shot a final round 12-under 59 before parring the second extra hole to defeat Alistair Docherty and win the Pinnacle Bank Championship at The Club at Indian Creek for his maiden title on the Tour.
|
There were early indicators of a special round with four birdies in his first 8 holes. A birdie at 10 kept the momentum going before the real fireworks show.
|
A birdie-birdie-birdie-eagle-birdie run from 12 made a sub-60 a distinct possibility. One final birdie at the 18th put Harris over the top and into the clubhouse at 22-under.
|
Ordinarily that total may have been enough for an outright win but Docherty’s finish was extraordinary. Four birdies to close, highlighted by a 53-footer at 16 saw him force a playoff.
|
The pair traded pars at the first playoff hole. Docherty blinked first with a bogey on their second trip down 18 after missing the green long and being unable to salvage par.

Harris meanwhile secured his four and with it a maiden title.

HotelPlanner Tour: Blomstrand blossoms in first title

Christofer Blomstrand parlayed a round two 10-under 61 into an eventual two-stroke victory in the Scottish Challenge at Schloss Roxburghe.
|
The Swede's Friday fireworks included eight birdies and an eagle. Coupled with an opening 66, Blomstrand took a two-stroke lead into the weekend. That advantage remained intact despite a sluggish third round of 70.
|
|
Blomstrand showed no nerves early in the final round, collecting five birdies through his first 11 holes. Bogeys at 15 and 16 may have followed but the 34-year-old still managed to hold off a charging Adam Wallin who closed with a 62 to vault from a share of 25th into solo 2nd-place.
