PGA Tour: Clark recovers for three-shot BMW victory

Wyndham Clarkl birdied his final three holes in a three-shot BMW Championship win which so nearly slipped from his grasp at Bellerive Country Club.
|
The two-time US Open winner opened up a five-shot lead heading into Sunday on the strength of two 6-under 64s and a third round 65.
|
Three bogeys in his first 10 holes on Sunday and the glaring absence of birdies brought a number of players into the frame. Rory McIlroy made the turn in 1-under before a birdie at 11. A string of pars thereafter meant he and Clark arrived at the par-3 16th locked in a share of the lead.
|
Thi would be a turning point. Clark walked away with a 2 while McIlroy's birdie went abegging. There was to be a two-shot swing at the penultimate hole when Clark made a birdie-4 to his playing partner' 6.
|

The icing on the cake for Clark was a final birdie at Bellerive's 18th which ensured that he kept Patrick Cantlay, who enjoyed the same birdie-birdie-birdie finish in a 2-under 68, at bay.

LPGA Tour: Yamashita puts on a classic performance in Canadian victory

Miyu Yamashita closed out her CPKC Women' Open with a 4-under 66 but it was her early-week fireworks which laid the foundation for a jaw-dropping 9-stroke victory at Royal Mayfair Golf Club in Canada.
|
The Japanese star was in a class of her own throughout the week. Opening with a fantastic 8-under 62, she backed up her strong start with rounds of 64 and 65 to fashion a six-stroke advantage with a round to play.
|
Unlike Wyndham Clark on the PGA Tour, she didn't give the chasing pack a chance on the final day. Instead she made just one bogey on each side but offset them handsomely with four outward-nine birdies and a further two on the back.
|
|
A birdie at the 72nd hole was a finish befitting of such a world-class display and one which left her compatriot Yuri Yoshida (69) in a distant 2nd-place.

DP World Tour: Jamieson earns second win at last

Scott Jamieson, often in contention but only in the winner's circle once before, added a second DP World Tour title to his resume when he shot a 5-under 67 which helped him to a two shot victory in the Nexo Championship at Trump International Golf Links.

It was a special home soil win for the Scotsman who began the day three adrift of Shaun Norris who had led through three rounds on 9-under par.
|
Norris though struggled in the final round, making three bogeys and a double-bogey in an eventual 4-over 76, tumbling down into a share of 7th.
|
|
Jamieson on the other hand produced his round of the week. Three birdies on the front, a further three on the back and just a single bogey was the recipe for success he'd been searching for since capturing the Nelson Mandela Championship way back in 2012.

LIV Golf Tour: La Sasso wins LIV Indianapolis

Michael La Sasso withstood significant pressure from a charging Jon Rahm by carding a 5-under 65 to win by a shot in what was the final event of the season.
|
To win an event these days, it seems you need one exceptionally low round at least. That arrived for La Sasso in the form of a 10-under 60 in round 2 which more than made up for a 1-over opening round.
|
Showing no signs of a come-down, the American managed a third round 66 to take a one-shot advantage into the final day.
|
It proved to be a day which saw Rahm combat an opening-hole bogey with nine birdies and just one other bogey. A birdie at the 72nd hole, the par-5 18th saw the Spaniard post a tournament tally of 17-under par.
|
La Sasso was equal to the task before him. Four birdies over his first 17 holes and the notable absence of bogeys and missteps was impressive. Not as impressive though as the fact that, just when he needed it, La Sasso delivered a 72nd hole birdie of his own to earn his maiden title.

Rahm's Legion XIII won the Team event, with Tom McKibbin (-11) Tyrrell Hatton (-8)Calum Surratt (-8) contributing to a 6-shot win over the HyFlyers GC in what is rumoured to be LIV Golf's final event.

Korn Ferry Tour: Sugiura birdies final three holes, wins Advent Health by one

Yuta Sugiura birdied his final three holes to earn a maiden Korn Ferry Tour title in the Advent Health Championship by a slender one-shot margin over Austin Hitt at Blue Hills Country Club.
|
The Japanese player took a one-shot lead into Sunday having opened his campaign with a 10-under 62 before handy rounds of 68 and 64.
|
Hitt put on a masterclass in the final round with 10 birdies an an eagle in a 12-under 60 that necessitated a fast finish by Sugiura.
|
|
Finish fast he certainly did. Birdie-3s at the 16th and 17th were how it began and a birdie-4 at 18 was how it ended. In all Sugiura mixed eight birdies with one bogey on Sunday en route to the win.

HotelPlanner Tour: Foos victorious in Finland

Like Scott Jamison, Dominic Foos overturned a three-shot deficit on the final day of the Finnish Challenge at Cooke Course via a 5-under 67 which saw him over the line by a shot.
|
Fellow German Tiger Christensen set the three round pace by following a first round 66 with a 68 before a Saturday 63 put him two shots clear.
|
Christen's challenge stalled with a 1-over 73 which featured just two birdies and relegated him to solo-3rd.
|
Foos made a bright start with five birdies over his opening 12 holes. He counteracted a bogey at the 13th with a birdie-3 two holes later. Jonthan Goth-Rasmussen finished a shot adrift after a 69 but will likely rue the fact that he closed with five successive pars.
|
|
For Foos the victory represented a first triumph since 2015.

PGA Tour Champions: Alker beats Yang in playoff

Steven Alker birdied the first playoff hole against YE Yang to win the Rogers Charity Classic at Canyon Meadows Golf & Country Club.
|
The pair ended regulation tied on 16-under par as Yang closed with a 7-under 63 and Alker a 65. Yang birdied his final two holes, including the par-5 18th while Alker could do no better than par at the last.
|
After both hitting the fairway on the first playoff hole, an errant second-shot landed Yang in a native area from where he required two shots to extricate himself. Consequently, he was unable to do better than a bogey-6.
|
|
Alker meanwhile found the green in three before rolling in his birdie putt for the 12th title of his PGA Tour Champions career.
