PGA Tour: Bridgeman holds on for maiden title

He may have closed with a 1-over 72 but Jacob Bridgeman did enough to hold off Kurt Kitayama and Rory McIlroy by a shot at the Genesis Invitational.
|
The American raced out to a six-shot 54-hole lead after following an opening round 66 with consecutive 64s.
|
Sunday was far quieter as he collected two birdies inside the first four holes before dropping shots at the 4th, 7th and 16th.
|
A superb 64 from Kitayama and a 67 by Masters Champion McIlroy punctuated by birdies at 17 and 18 necessitated that Bridgeman hole a nervy 3-footer for par at 18 to avoid a playoff.

LPGA Tour: Thitikul wins at home

Jeeno Thitikul earned a victory on home soil when she captured the LPGA Thailand by a shot from Chizzy Iwai after a closing round of 4-under 68.
|
|
Thitikul was in prime position to win through 54 holes after opening with rounds of 67, 63 and 66. Three birdies in a row from the 6th was the highlight of a final round featuring six birdies and two bogeys which helped Thitikul keep Iwai, who closed with 66, at bay.

DP World Tour: Jarvis breaks through in Kenya

He held a share of the lead through each of the first three rounds before a clutch birdie-eagle finish on Sunday earned Casey Jarvis a maiden DP World Tour title by 3 shots at the Magical Kenya Open.
|
The 22-year-old opened the week with an 8-under 62 before rounds of 65 and 66 meant he entered the final round alongside Angel Ayora.
|
It was to be the third member of the final group, Davis Bryant who’d pose the best biggest threat though.
|
Jarvis birdied three of his first four holes, dropping a shot at the 3rd, while Bryant reeled off three birdies in a row from the 5th.
|
The ding-dong battle continued with Jarvis responding to a Bryant birdie at 11 with an eagle at the 12th.
|
|
Jarvis dropped at 15 and when Bryant birdied 16 the lead was just a single shot. After a stoppage in play due to lightning, Jarvis demonstrated that he wouldn’t be denied as he birdied the 17th before sealing the victory with an eagle-3.

Oliver Bekker shot a final round 5-under 67 to surge to a two-stroke win in the Durban Open.
|
With the entirety of Saturday lost to rain, the event was reduced to 54 holes.
|
Despite opening with rounds of 7-under 65 and a 68, Bekker faced a two-stroke deficit with a round to play.
|
|
He may have dropped a shot on each nine in the final round but three birdies on the outward half and a further four coming home, including a birdie-3 at 18, allowed him to claim the win over 54-hole leader Christofer Blomstrand who closed with a 71.
