WP Amateur: Verster wins WP Strokeplay, De Abreau Matchplay Championship
|

Ivan Verster earned a three-stroke win in the Western Province Strokeplay Championship at Milnerton Golf Club.
|
He opened the 72-hole event with a four-under 66 before consecutive rounds of 68 preceded his best round of the championship, a five-under 65, which confirmed a wire-to-wire victory.
|
Verster's defeat at the 19th hole to Sean Paxton in the WP Amateur Championship Round of 32 demonstrated what a fickle game golf can be, especially considering Verster was two up through 11 before needing a win at the last to take the game into extra holes.
|
Paxton's challenge came to a grinding halt with a 5&4 thumping at the hands of Fabrizio De Abreu. De Abreu's semi-final against Minjun Heo was a far tighter contest, requiring 21 holes to book a championship decider against CJ Van Wyk.
|
Van Wyk won the first hole in the 36-hole title match but De Abreu would win five of the remaining 17 holes in the morning to Van Wyk's three.
|
A ding-dong battle ensued in the afternoon with Van Wyk edging a hole ahead with a win at the 28th.
|
|
De Abreu responded with an eye-popping five 3s in a six-hole stretch, including four in a row from the 29th, to slam the door on the 2025 WP Amateur Championship.

PGA Tour: Scheffler benefits from Griffin's stumble, wins Procore Championship
|

Having posted a 19-under tournament total with a five-under 67, Scottie Scheffler benefited from a 72nd-hole three-putt by Ben Griffin to win the Procore Championship by a shot.
|
|
Scheffler's 19th Tour title was the product of six birdies and a bogey on Sunday.
|
But it was the shots played by Griffin which proved more decisive in a sense.
|
|
Facing a 59-foot eagle bid on the par-5 18th, Griffin left his first putt six feet from the hole. His birdie effort stayed above ground, preventing the American from forcing a play-off with Ryder Cup teammate Scheffler.

LPGA Tour: Hull wins Kroger Queen City Championship

|
Charley Hull converted her 54-hole lead in the Kroger Queen City Championship into a first title since 2022 after a 4-under 68.
|
Jeeno Thitikul was on Hull's shoulder for much of Sunday, turning in 2-under par before collecting birdies at tghe 10th, 11th and 14th.
|
Hull closed out her front-9 with birdies at 7-9 before offsetting two bogeys with two birdies over the first 8 holes on the inward-half.
|
|
With the tournament on a knife-edge, a dramatic two-shot swing on the final hole saw Hull make a birdie-4 and Thitikul card a 6.

DP World Tour: Noren claims BMW PGA with playoff birdie

Sweden's Alex Noren birdied the first hole of a sudden-death playoff with Afrien Saddier to win the BMW PGA Championship for the second time in his career.
|
There was no separating the pair for much of a rainy Sunday: Both carded 4-under 68s around Wentworth's West course though all of Saddier's came on the inward-half.
|
A matter of yards separated the pair off the tee on the par-5 18th in the playoff, Noren in in the rough and Saddier in the fairway.
|
Both their second shots finished short of the water guarding the green.
|
What separated them in the end were the pitches they played to the green: Saddier's ball running through the green and settling on the fringe. Noren meanwhile displayed superb touch as his ball finished within three-feet.
|
|
Saddier could do no better than 5 before Noren rolled home his birdie-putt to claim a second successive win this season after winning the British Masters three week ago.

Sunshine Tour: Porteous wins first event since 2016

Haydn Porteous earned a one-stroke win in the weather-affected Vodacom Origins of Golf event at Gowrie Farms.
|
Lengthy fog delays forced the event to be shortened from 54 holes to 36. Porteous won what was effectively a disjointed sprint with rounds of 66 and 69 around the par-71 layout.
|
Eight players shared 2nd a shot behind but there was no denying two-time DP World Tour winner his victory.
|
|
The final day's play saw Porteous complete the final nine holes of his second round, carding two birdies on each nine against two bogeys on the round, just enough to keep the chasing pack at bay.

Korn Ferry Tour: Bauchou wins Simmons Bank Open

Zach Bauchou carded a 6-under 64 to win the Simmons Bank Open by two shots from Austin Hitt.
|
|
It represented Bauchou's third successive 64, featuring seven birdies and just one dropped shot. Hitt meanwhile closed with a 65.

Hotelplanner Tour: Ritchie birdies his way to second title of 25'

JC Ritchie birdied his final three holes to sign for a 5-under 66 which produced a one-stroke win over David Law at the Open de Portugal.
|
Law had been in pole position through 54 holes and although he birdied his final two holes, his 71 wasn't quite good enough to match Ritchie's 15-under par tournament tallly.
|
|
South African Ritchie collected three birdies over his first 12 holes. A drop at 15 threatened to set him back but he responded by defiantly finishing the event 3-3-4 to seal the victory.

PGA Tour Champions: Goosen beats Els to Sanford International win

A final round 3-under 67 saw Retief Goosen overhaul compatriot Ernie Els and win the Sanford International by two shots.
|
Els led Gosen by one entering the final round but struggled to a 3-over 73 which featured just a single birdie.
|
|
Goosen had no such trouble, offsetting a solitary bogey with four birdies to eclipse Bo Van Pelt who shot a 68.
