Cruickshank wins Strand Open
|
|
|
Two rounds of 1-under 71 saw Cole Cruickshank win his second Western Province Premier Amateur Tour Open in a row as he prevailed by three shots at the Strand Open.
|
Having won the Durbanville Open the previous week, Cruickshank began the afternoon round at Strand a shot behind leader Evan Marais. The WP player remained steady in round two, offsetting three bogeys in a four hole stretch from the 10th with birdies at the 2nd, 4th, 14th and 16th.
|
Marais on the other hand carded a 75 to share 2nd with Ian Jacobs (68), Mitch Phigeland (72), and Christian Basson (74).

Cruickshank's 71 was one of four under-par rounds among the top-10.

PGA Tour: Morikawa wins Pebble Beach bunfight

On a day where a host of players had a shot at victory, Collin Morikawa birdied the 72nd hole to win the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am by a shot.
|
No fewer than six players held a share of the lead on the final day. It was Morikawa's play down the stretch which set him apart, however.
|
Birdie-3s at the 15th and 16th helped him take the lead though a dropped shot at the par-3 17th set him back.
|
Morikawa had a lengthy wait on the 18th as Jacob Bridgeman tried to play a shot from the beach, only for his ball to find the water en route to a bogey-6.
|
|
Tied for the lead with Sepp Straka and Min Woo Lee on 21-under par, Morikawa's 4-iron approach from 235 yards set up a birdie-4, a 5-under 67 and a first victory on Tour since 2023.

LIV Tour: Kim earns memorable comeback victory

For years, golf fans wondered whether Anthony Kim would play professional golf again, let alone win another title. He returned in 2023, rusty after more than a decade away from the game. At LIV Golf Adelaide he was back to winning ways, triumphing by three over Jon Rahm.
|
The American started the final round five shots shy of Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau. The latter battled to a 2-over par 74 while Rahm carded a relatively pedestrian 71.
|

Kim was in a class of his own, picking up four birdies on the front-9. Four in a row from the 12th saw him seize control of proceedings. A ninth red number of the day at the 17th was the icing on the cake for Kim who turned the tables on the respective Major champions.

An eagle at the last hole saw MJ Daffue shoot a closing round of 3-under 69 and win the NTT Data Pr-Am by four shots.
|
Heavy rain forced the cancelation of the first round while the remainder of the event was stop/start in nature. There was no stopping Daffue though.
|
He made a strong start with a round of 67 on Fancourt's Montagu layout before a 64 at Outeniqua helped him to a share of the lead with Bryce Easton and Kieran Vincent.
|
Both Easton and Vincent had their challenges scuppered by untimely bogeys as they finished in a share of 2nd.
|
There was late drama though. American Hunter Logan arrived at the 18th on 14-under par, the same mark as Daffue playing behind him.
|
|
Logan proceeded to make a disastrous double-bogey 7 before Daffue notched an eagle to ensure a victory that for so long was far from guaranteed.

Sunshine Ladies Tour: Sattelkau wins second event in a row

Celina Sattelkau made it two wins in as many weeks as she won the NTT Data Ladies Pro-Am by five shots.
|
Days removed from a thrilling playoff win at the Supersport Ladies Challenge, Sattelkau found herself atop the leaderboard once more.
|
|
With the event reduced to 36 holes, Sattelkau opened her campaign with a 6-under 67. She may have cooled off with a 1-under 72 in the final round but the German did more than enough to hold off the challenge of fellow German Sophie Witt who shot rounds of 71 and 73.

PGA Tour Champions: Toms wins Chubb Classic

David Toms won a 5th PGA Tour Champions title, pipping a trio of players by a shot at the Chubb Classic.
|
The final round was an eventful one for Toms who offset two double-bogeys and two bogeys with four birdies.
|
He may have shot a 1-over 73, but a second round 63 was the catalyst for his eventual win.
|
|
Boo Weekley (67), Justin Leonard (70) and Michael Wright (71) shared 2nd-place on 12-under par.
