World Amateur Team Championship: Maas, SA make history
|
|
|
|
Christiaan Maas spearheaded a historic victory for South Africa in the World Amateur Team Championship as he won the individual title by 10 strokes, propelling South Africa to their first-ever victory in the team event in the process.
|
Maas put three sublime rounds of golf together, beginning with two consecutive 6-under 66s before a 65 in round three and a closing 3-under 69 in the final round. He dropped just three shots all week to win by 10-shots over Declan O'Donovan.
|
In the Team event where two of the three players' scores counted, Daniel Bennett and Charl Barnard played their part in SA amassing a 29-under four-round total. An opening round of 139 preceded a round of 135 before South Africa notched 132 which marked the lowest single-round score in tournament history.
|

Though a quieter 141 followed in the final round, South Africa did more than enough to ensure an 8-stroke triumph over Australia.

PGA Tour: Schauffele ends title-drought at Baycurrent Classic

|
Xander Schauffele shot a final round of 7-under 64 to earn a one-stroke victory over Max Greyserman at the Baycurrent Classic.
|
|
The pair began the final round tied for the lead on 12-under. Both turned in 3-under 33 and remained level through 13 holes. Two-time Major champion Schauffele birdied the 14th to edge in front, where he'd remain over the remaining holes to earn his first victory since the 2024 Open Championship.

LPGA Tour: Thitikul earns hard-fought playoff victory

Four shots behind with five holes to play, Jeeno Thitikul stormed into a playoff with Minami Katsu before earning a decisive birdie on the fifth playoff hole to win the LPGA Shanghai.
|
Katsu led by two with a round to play and with five holes remaining she was in complete control. Thitikul though birdied holes 14-16 before a brilliant eagle-3 at the 17th.
|
Katsu chipped in for birdie at 17 just to retain a share of the lead before the pair ended regulation tied on 24-under par.
|
The pair traded pars over the first four playoff holes, Katsu having a couple of looks at birdie and victory.
|
|
In the end, it came down to a wonderful approach by Thitikul at the par-4 10th which set up a birdie. After her approach finished short of the green, Katsu had a chance to make birdie but her chip remained above ground - Thitikul earning her second LPGA Shanghai title.

DP World Tour: Penge beats Brown in playoff

Marco Penge birdied the first hole of sudden-death to defeat Daniel Brown and win the Open de Espana.
|
The pair had contrasting fortunes on Sunday, Brown five birdies and an eagle in a round of 4-under 67. Penge, leader by four shots overnight managed just a single birdie in a round of 1-over 72.

Penge did well to regroup in the playoff, finding a birdie on the par-4 18th in the playoff to capture a third title of the season

Sunshine Tour: Moolman pips trio to Limpopo Championship title

Pieter Moolman overturned a five-shot deficit by firing a 6-under 66 en route to a two-stroke win over a trio of players at the Limpopo Championship.
|
Rupert Kaminski led by four shots having opened with rounds of 68, 71 and 66 around the Par-72 Euphoria Estate.
|
He endured a frustrating Sunday in pursuit of a second Tour title. A one-over front-nine featuring three bogeys and two birdies preceded a back-nine which featured two birdies and as many bogeys.
|
It was to be Moolman who scooped the trophy despite playing his first four holes in 2-over par. Six birdies and an eagle from that point, punctuated by a red number at the par-5 18th powered Moolman to the fourth victory of his career.

Sharing 2nd-place with Kaminski were Kyle De Beer and Altin Van Der Merwe who shot 67 and 69 respectively in the final round.

Korn Ferry Tour: Blanchet beats Botha to Tour Championship title

Chandler Blanchet's final round 6-under 66 saw him pip South Africa's Barend Botha to the Korn Ferry Tour Championship title, denying the South African his PGA Tour card in the process.
|
Botha began the round a shot in front, knowing that only a victory would earn him a spot on the Tour. He mixed five birdies with three bogeys on the day for a round of 2-under 70.
|
|
Blanchet built early momentum with birdies on his first three holes before another at the 9th. Three more birdies on holes 11-13 ensured that even though he bogeyed the last, the American still prevailed by two.

HotelPlanner Tour: Paratore earns DP World Tour promotion with Hainan win

Renato Paratore birdied the 72nd hole to book a sudden-death playoff against Max Steinlechner before parring the first extra hole for the win at the Hainan Open.
|
Lars Van Meijel led by four through 54 holes but tumbled out of the running with a 3-over 75.
|
Steinlechner and Paratore meanwhile both carded 6-under 66s, Steinlechner constructing his in bogey-free fashion. Paratore suffered a late stumble with a bogey at the par-4 17th but bounced back by holing a 25-footer for birdie at the par-5 18th.
|

In the playoff, Steinlechner was unable to do better than a double-bogey 7 which ensured Paratore won his third title of 2025.

PGA Tour Champions: Cejka cruises to SAS Championship win

Alex Cejka ground out a 1-under 71 in the final round of the SAS Championship to complete a three-shot win over Ernie Els.
|
A bogey-free 66 in the second round put the German in pole position with a round to play. The final day's play saw Cejka mix two birdies with three birdies over the first 16 holes. He finished the event with back-to-back birdies to keep Ernie Els (68) at bay.
|
|
It marked Cejka's fourth victory on the PGA Tour Champions.
|
